Toy Story-Inspired Birthday: Personalized Decorations for a Rootin’ Tootin’ Celebration
Sometimes, the best friendships start with a simple Instagram DM. That’s exactly how I met a new mom friend. We were two work-from-home moms who needed to get out, so we planned a park meetup with our boys. The best part? Our kiddos, about nine months apart, became instant besties.
So, when she told me she was planning a Toy Story-inspired birthday for her little buckaroo, I had to help with some personalized decor. She’s a talented photographer, so she sent me the cutest photo of her son in his favorite cowboy hat, and I got to work creating special touches for his big day.

🤠 Custom Face Banner
What’s a Toy Story-inspired party without a big, playful banner? I printed his adorable cowboy-hat-wearing face onto 8.5x11" cardstock, punched some holes, and strung them together to hang over the birthday setup. Seeing his little face as part of the decorations made everything feel even more fun and festive!
🧁 Cupcake Toppers
Since homemade cupcakes were on the menu, I made mini versions of his face, glued them to toothpicks, and created the perfect little cowboy cupcake toppers. To tie in the theme even more, I used my Cricut to design different cake toppers inspired by Toy Story's iconic aesthetic.
⭐ Custom Table Confetti – My Favorite Detail
To bring everything together, I cut out blue, yellow, and red circles and stars—matching that classic Toy Story color scheme—and sprinkled in tiny versions of his face. The confetti was such a fun, unexpected touch that made the tablescape feel extra special!
The Magic of Personalized DIY Decor
It’s amazing how small, personalized details can make a birthday party feel one-of-a-kind. Seeing my friend’s excitement and her little cowboy’s big smile made it all worth it. These DIY projects remind me why I love crafting and celebrating life’s moments—especially when they bring friends (and tiny besties) even closer.
